Realtors celebrate awards‘ success

WHAT started out as a fledgling organisation that had to rely on the perseverance of a couple of stalwarts to kick off has since grown from strength to strength.

In early October, the Malaysia Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) held its eighth National Real Estate Awards (NREA) in style at the Sime Darby Convention Centre with the theme “Gold Standards”, attended by over 800 people.

To celebrate the success of NREA 2016, a cosy cocktail soiree was held recently for MIEA board members, past presidents, award-winning real estate agents and negotiators, as well as sponsors and media members.

“We want to rebrand the awards, and make it the premier event in the country in appreciation of those who have made an impact in the industry,” said MIEA president Erick Kho.

There were 19 categories in the national level awards, which were presented to agents, negotiators and firms to recognise their contributions and achievements.

Hartamas Real Estate (M) Sdn Bhd won three awards: Commercial Real Estate Firm of the Year; Top Project Marketing Firm of the Year and Top Commercial Real Estate Negotiator of the Year.

Among some of the other notable awards were the Top Real Estate Negotiator of the Year Carol Yong Ching Mei of Cornerstone Realty and the Million Dollar Roof Top titles bagged by real estate agents Elvin Berty Luke Fernandez of Khong & Jaafar (Real Estate) Sdn Bhd and Munirah Mohammad of Homefield Real Estate Sdn Bhd, as well as real estate negotiator Juliana Teh Beng Choo of Mapleland Properties.

“We want to thank the agents, negotiators and sponsors who helped to make the event a success, and hope the awards will grow even bigger next year,” said Kho, who is Mapleland Properties principal.

“This fun get-together not only brings members and winners together, but presents a great networking opportunity for members as we learn from each other.

"It’s also very inspiring to see bumiputera members like Munirah making such great strides in the industry, encouraging others to follow in her stead.”

Besides group photography sessions and selfies at the soiree, a video of the awards night was also played to recapture the highlights of the event.
